What is the best type of low-cost home construction for someone to undertake when doing the labor alone? - pre teen in tiny pants

I am a woman with a child of two teenagers and pre-teenage daughter, and taking into account the creation of my little house in the country I have. It said in the suburbs in North Carolina, and home of my grandparents, and was ten years ago razed to the ground. So I started to build at least one level, has many things clarified that public services instead of the connection a. I want something that is energy efficient and requires little maintenance. Will be low, less than 1,000 square meters, and paid for in cash, I go. I'm going to the HVAC, plumbing and electricity rent, but I would with most other much as possible on the mine, with the support of children, of course. I am strong enough and good with tools and have no time limit. I just want toensure that by the end of a well-built, without endangering the safety of my family in the process.

That's what I did - I isolated hole in the foundation, design, drywalled put up siding, ceiling tiles, wallpaper, tiles, bathroom fitting accessories for paying a neighbor with food and beer to roughin - (THANK Kev!) Had a father to do electrical work. He was wrong to help many friends who come on the weekend! Good food and good friends have worked for me.

I felt that the work is comfortable and known in advance, as I grew up in the construction industry (family business)

So - not only what you are feeling well.

And, always cold beer in my hand!
Good luck!

In everything we have, I always have to weigh the difference, what I can do and what it would cost to have done. This is a very ambitious project, and I take my hat off before you do so. There are books to go into the construction details, it would be nice to read (or two) to bottom.

The process involves digging a hole, lay the foundation) (concrete, not the definition in the rough, laid on the outside, plastic sheets, taking into account the water and electricity.

Then the roof beams and roof, windows and doors. When closed, you can begin to end the work ..... Flooring, plaster, finish electrical, plumbing, flooring, furniture .... etc.

The key is to have a plan and keep it too. I wish I had an architect of the preparation for youND hire a contractor to do great things.

Choose your battles! I would say if you do not build a house before the actual design and would be difficult to do something, but to rework, if it is closed can be learned. It could even take your classes at a college or Jr. Home Depot, which might help. I take a couple of examples for me in http://www.sbcc.com

Good luck

Whatever you do, remember to take photos of the week to week, your family, talk to him forever. We have a 2-year history in 1900 and were DYI tion for over 15 years. Energy efficiency means good insulation everywhere, even plants. And although Windows. I would do all the wood floors, stain and seal and leave for the day. I am a big fan of hand sanitizer. A rag and some places that all you need. Read the instructions in this sense. This keeps the cleaning unnecessary, is too smooth and running. I do not know how to drywall, but a good starting point if you think it's pretty floral trims are not yet ready, and a small part of a product, the house seems to age maximum tongue and groove, but no. tanned or just paint. Try wainscotinG if the house is square, has no problem with the turban. We wish you a lot of good information, but the pictures really help you see where he went for a rainy day. Good luck!

It would be best to build wood frame (2x4) for sale.

Do not forget their plans by inspectors from the office building of the community are for the plans reviewed and approved. Usually, you give one years (extension possible) to complete the project.

The longer it takes to build, making it the basis of inflation in the cost of materials, use of utilities and potential theft of materials.

Good luck

If you look at the various stages of construction of a house are interested, you can search this site I created when I built my house:

http://www.hallsnet.com/david/house

I described all phases of construction, he commented on what I learned, and includes photos of progress.

While addressing a number of things that I have done a lot of the work by companies. However, I believe this information together, you see all the steps and options involved in building a house, and you can determine which of these offices would like to do yourself and what you prefer to rent.

Doing much of the work itself can be fun and rewarding, if tDid not work, in difficult times. If you suffer from hypertension trememdous do things based on timing, certainly adds a lot of stress on the project and a great joy to him.

On the other hand, if you have a lot of time and flexibility, you can save lots of money and how many small details, like their own ideas. Teach your children how the work is also a nice side effect!

Good luck with your project.
